European countries included in the PREHDICT project do not exactly match with the United Nations (UN) classification for Europe used originally by the ICO Information Centre on HPV and Cancer. Discrepancies are as follows: PREHDICT includes data on Cyprus, Israel and Turkey, classified by UN as Western Asia. PREHDICT does not cover Andorra, Monaco and San Marino. From now on, the ICO Information Centre on HPV and Cancer uses PREHDICT pool of European countries for Europe regional estimates. For the rest of world regions the Centre continues to use the UN classification.
These data are part of a special edition of reports for the European region and countries associated to the PREHDICT project. PREHDICT is a grant of the EU 7th Framework programme to determine prerequisites and strategies for HPV vaccination in European countries and to predict the impact of vaccination on screening programmes.
